Finding Musical Gems on Myspace

June 19th, 2006 by Baconstrip

Sure – browsing through the random unknown and unsigned bands on myspace can end up being a painful experience since anyone can upload their stuff without any sort of quality control going on there. You’ll find everything from the obvious National Acts to every ordinary Joe in his basement that thinks he & his band are the next big thing. I don’t envy A & R people at labels that have to wade through the crap to find potential winners!

Anyhow – every now & then – I stumble on some good stuff so here are a couple!

scrambled.jpgDid you know there is metal behind the Iron Curtain? OK I know the Berlin Wall came down but heck I couldn’t refuse that lame comments! Here is a progressive metal band from Moscow that will rock your socks and scramble your brain. They are called – obviously – Scramble Defuncts. I get tired listening because there is so much going on – however – they kick SERIOUS ass – not for the faint of heart I assure you that:

blessed.jpgAnd now for some craziness. This band hammers out industrialized metal while delivering passionate performances donned in costume & makeup that are taken as serious as a ritual or something. At least that is what they say about why they dress like they do. When you get past the image you’ll probably notice there is some serious rocking going on here!

So there you go – a couple random bands I found poking around Myspace. I seem to find better music on there randomly looking around instead of being told how awesome some band is when I get the odd email which was most likely sent by a myspace messaging bot. I almost NEVER listen to nor look at any band then sends me a random email that was obviously spammed out. Happy Myspace Music Surfing!

Blessed Be Thy Name have always been one of my favorites! Have you checked out Februus (myspace.com/februus_uk)? I think they’ve just started out but they sound pretty amazing – the girls got an amazing voice! It’s a shame they’re about… 2200 miles away from me? Oh well!
