Strapping Young Lad - Future Up in the Air um Maybe

They’ll be releasing their 5th CD from Century Media soon, titled “The New Black” but its hard to tell where SYL will be after that.
If you pay attention to music news, you probably saw the interview with Devin Townsend where he was going off about this being the last album. He seemed really tired of it all and more excited about his solo projects. When I read it, even though I was disappointed, I could understand. I mean how long can you crank out that kind of music and not get bored or totally worn out?
Not only that, but in my opinion a lot of bands just dont know when to quit. After a certain point songs start sounding like older songs, the stage show gets stale, you know what I mean! If this new album from SYL kicks as much ass as the last one, and then they quit - well that would be leaving an untarnished legacy as far as Im concerned. Plus I like the solo stuff outta Townsend , and I will still listen to it!
Just as Im accepting that this band might be no more, someone sent me a comment from the drummer Gene Hoglan. He denies everything that Devin Townsend said, and claims they were just discussing another cd to do after this one! Well what the hell!
Im starting to wonder if this is a big publicity stunt, or just someone messing with the press for fun. Which I bet that would be funny - just say random stuff in interviews and laugh when it gets back to you or is printed! haha I wouldnt put it past anyone to do that, especially since bands like chumbawumba (oh god I hate them) have openly admitted to such things.
If you’re a fan like me I guess its a wait and see thing now eh?
