Faith No More ( Where are they now? )
July 20th, 2006 by MrsBarnes
Last week I posted a question “Is there anything good is Rap Rock?“. I got a lot of comments for some bands to check out, and a lot of them actually weren’t that bad. (You’re going to have to go to the post and read the comments yourself!!)
But “Fiorello Films” posted a comment that mentioned Faith No More! How did I forget to mention that band?
Their song “Epic” was a crazy huge hit, but unlike most crazy huge hits - it actually kicked ass. It was also one a really unique take on the whole idea of bringing rap and rock together. But what are they doing now?
The band apparently was never exactly a happy bunch, with some interviewers in the time talking about their pathological hatred for each other. So you might not be surprised to hear that they broke up in 1998 after releasing six albums. Guess its really cool they made it that far!!
Mike Patton who is probably the singer you know from this band. (did you know Courtney Love sang for them for a while?) He was a strange guy - but I say that?in a cool way. He was known for doing things on stage like?backflips, landing on his back - and well, just continuing to sing, having fans spit in his mouth from the audience, and eating trash on stage… Anyway, in 2002 he actually did some stuff with the strange hardcore/mathcore group “The Dillinger Escape Plan” (UVTV Live Videos here). Very cool, and somehow a good fit.
Since then, he has worked with Bjork, and signed on to score and independent film all the while recently releasing a CD of wierd mashed up songs. Thats just a few of his projects! The band member reports of him being a workaholic seem very very true!
Their former drummer, Mike Bordin who co-fouded the band, has been a part of Ozzy’s touring band for quite a while now. The best random trivia on him is his appearance on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire!” ?Now that’s random!
The bassist? Billy Gould?now is the CEO of KoolArrow Records. You simply must check them out! http://www.koolarrow.com/
And finally the keyboardist - Roddy. He now fronts a band called “Imperial Teen” : http://www.imperialteen.com/
The rest of the? members weren’t in the band for all the albums, so I didn’t research them too much. My guess is that they have a few projects going. If you happen to know about them - do share!

I’ve heard that Mike Patton is back and has done some metal recordings and is becoming a pretty damned good “screamer”. I have a CD where he sings with a band such as Korn or Chimaira and I hardly recognized him. Epic was a kick ass song and it still is. I also heard the lead guitarist, can’t remember his name is now a pumpkin farmer somewhere.

TSK! TSK!
You forgot to mention Mike Patton’s appearance in the movie “Firecracker,” where he shows off his acting talent as one of the film’s leading actors…
It’s now available on DVD, for all you Pattonphiles out there…
Also, the drummer “Puffy” was known to be playing with Korn, and appeared at Ozzfest playing for Ozzy’s band…

Patton is a musical rain man. The man is so genius, he could be considered retarded by people who don’t appreciate music. Having such brainchilds as Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Maladoror, Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton’s Adult Voices For Theme, and there’s even one that starts as General Patton VS ________. Plus he’s been in bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Lovage, and guest stared in songs w/Sepultura, and more bands than I can list. He has his own record label. Like I said, “musical rain man”.

i just saw mike patton last nite at in the band Peeping Tom (feat. artists such as dan the automator, razhel and norah jones) at the great american music hall (s.f.) and he was f***ing phenomenal! oh, and if we’re talking fnm… how do you forget the album King for a Day?!? that album has 3 of my favorite patton songs of all time! gentle art of making enemies, cuckoo for caca and take this bottle. i know i’m a bit obsessed when it comes to patton, but he’s such an amazing artist that i couldn’t imagine NOT being obsessed. a couple other great places to check out pattons work is myspace.com and youtube.com. myspace.com has all of his bands and side project’s music and youtube.com has pretty much every fnm, tomahawk, mr bungle, fant^mas, lovage, peeping tom…etc. footage you will ever find… including some awsome interviews.
so, please for me… find out that there’s WAY more about mike patton than just “epic”… please.
