Ozzfest Part 2 - Inner Workings Randomness
Down?in West Palm Beach, FL, today, people are at the last date of Ozzfest 2006! This is a show that I experienced for the first time this year, and now?completely understand why so many people make it a point to go every year.
If you went - I bet you were tired as hell when you got back right?? Well, check this out…
To give you an idea of things: as soon as you get to the show, you will see an ARMY of?18-wheelers. These things?carry the bands’ gear from show to show along with?various stage things. You’ll see tents everywhere for interviews, and then approx 34,892,380 tour busses. Ozzfest itself?is run by LiveNation, which runs a lot of big shows (the next Motley Crue tour, for instance).
The LiveNation crew at Ozzfest is HUGE and they work very hard. For instance, as soon as I arrived, I was greeted by two different media reps. Their job?was to keep me away from?places I wasn’t allowed, and make sure I was where I was supposed to be at the right time. Of cours,e they weren’t just dealing?with me, but a million other people doing the same or similar things.
Driving around with one of them, I learned that they easily work?from 7am ’til 1 or 2 in the morning every date. They have tons of planning, organizing, setting up, etc. to do every day.?They’ve also seen it all - people trying to get in, lots of passing out, and people generally being dumb (I’m sure there are lots more being cool?- but what’s memorable about that?! lol). They were also dealing with quite a few people who thought they deserved media passes for whatever contrived reason (that alone would be enough for me to quit lol).? Even with all of that, they were extremely cool and easy to deal with.
It’s not?just them. This tour is run like clockwork. While you are watching one band,?the band that played before them has a crew putting stuff on a tractor trailer or two and getting it started on?its way to the next venue. They make this look so easy… this heavy gear is on that truck and gone faster than I have seen?any crew work before. Think about that - you know how long it takes at some?club shows to get everything off the stage and put away before the next band? These guys make that look pathetic, and they are doing that just about every day.
Without these people, it wouldn’t matter what the hell bands were on the bill or anything - cause not a damn thing would happen. This is the most well-run event with the friendliest people I can think of.
…..Do the bands work hard? Hell yeah they do!!!! - but don’t forget, all these badass people that work all day long and into the night, while all the bands are bored on the tour bus - or doing interviews. I bet they have a damn fun summer.. and at the same time they are GLAD IT’S OVER WITH!

I Didn’t go to this years ozzfest there was only strapping young lad, black label society, and lacuna coil worth seeing and I,ve seen them before except lacuna coil anyway my point is that you guys don’t represnt true musicanmanship which is death metal and black metal nu-metal is shit and your second stage performers are horribly come on you coulld book better bands than norma jean and walls of jerico I would love to see such bands as deicide, cannibal corpse, emperor, kreator, sodom, nile, obituary, and one blackmetal band you did have in 2004 Dimmiu Borgir which was cancelled here in west palm beach cause you fuckers had to have it when we get hit by hurricanes the most I went in 98,and 05 great shows those years get more death and black metal and you might be plasently surprised at the response you get we are few but we support true art form than again I heard you guys charge 100,000 dollars for bands to be on your tour or is that just the main stage bands anyway thanks for letting me to vent I’ll be waiting next year for a better lineup or dave mustaine and his GIGANTOUR will be kicking your guys asses in summer tours dave knows great muscians just look at last years lineups and this years and take note later Sincerely Nate Price

Nate Price (the guy who posted that last comment) needs to learn how to breathe and punctuate.
