Zeromancer
Back to 2002, after?I did an interview with Jason Miller from Godhead,?I became a friend of Rhonda Saenz (publicist of Godhead) and she recommended to me another band that she worked?with called Zeromancer.
Two weeks later, I received the promotional cd of Eurotrash. This is a great industrial/goth album where every track on is worth listening to. It starts off with “Doctor Online” which some people probably will think is rather controversial. “Need You Like A Drug”?, “Raising Hell”, and “Neo Geisha” are great tunes as well.
In my humble opinion, I really think that their version of “Send Me an Angel” is the best cover version I have heard in my life!?Easy to say that I became a huge fan of Zeromancer after?I listened to the whole album, and ended up doing an interview with the band. I still remember?when Kim (the frontman of the band) told me, “This is an honor for me to do this. Something I wanted to do for a long time. The first Asian press we’ve ever done……..”? He is such a down-to-earth guy with a beautiful mind!?A month after the?new issue of Rock magazine was released, Kim sent their debut album “Clone Your Lover” to me for Souvenior ……..? I think this one is not as good as Eurotrash, but this is still an excellent CD. My personal favorite tracks are “Clone your Lover”, “Fade to Black”, and “God Bless The Models”.
Later, they?invaded?the USA to try?and conquer North America’s market (the band members are from Germany, Norway and the USA )?….? But they failed?for?some reason which?I cannot to say in here. In 2004, Zeromancer released their third album “Zzyzx”.?The band’s?heavy elements are all gone in this album (except 2 tracks are still heavy) . So?I guess?it must be that?quite?a few?of the old Zeromancer fans left them. The best track?should be “New Madonna”! I still think those soft mellow tracks can reveal that Zeromancer has the quality to create songs that are easy to the ears. It could have been a commercial success ……….. It’s sad that Orgy seems to be the most well-known representative of this underrated genre, while a band like Zeromancer who is far superior only got a little attention in North America. Nowadays, they are recording their forthcoming album and I wish them all the best!
