Jets Overhead
In my opinion, Jets Overhead is the best Canadian Psychedelic / Indie Pop band come out in last 5 years !! I’ve been so disappointed about the music trend right now (all shitty hop hop , emo core and cliche metalcore filling up the music scene), but after I listened to Jets Overhead’s music, I was happy again !!
I’ve told every one of my friends that Jets Overhead will be take over the world in next few years!
The first time I heard of Jets Overhead was from my friend who used to work for Epic records Canada. He reccomended Jets Overhead to me and a few days later this woman I was dating asked me if I would like to go to a show with her, so of course I went. The concert featured Jets Overhead and the Sam Roberts Band (whose tour she booked in Canada). We ended up breaking up before the show, but went anyway.
Before the show, I went to Jets overhead’s myspace page . I was totally into the song “Killing Time”. I especially liked the lyrics that say: ” Don’t ever say you’re sorry, For lazy days with me, It’s just the same old story, Some get what some don’t see.”
This song became my soundtrack for July 2006!
Backstage I got to meet three of the band members. They are very nice musicians, but after the show, I was so sad. It was our (me and the woman’s) last date.
Last week, I interviewed Piers Henwood, Guitar/Keyboards from Jets Overhead. I asked him:
“In the song ” Killing Time,” what was your motivation when you wrote those lyrics?
‘Don’t ever say you’re sorry For lazy days with me ,
It’s just the same old story Some get what some don’t
see’. What is the story behind this song ? “
The songwriter Adma said:
“The lyrics I wrote for Killing Time are nostalgic really. They are about a time in my life - my early twenties - when I was carefree and killing time. It’s about days when I did absolutely nothing productive, just had fun, got
stoned or something, without worrying about the future. Just living in the now. I guess the some get what some don’t see lyric is to do with the fact that there are always those who view time as a commodity that must be utilized every moment; the type of people who can’t deal with letting themselves have a lazy, unproductive day; they bug me. Don’t look back on
those days with regret, that’s what I am asking, what’s the point?”check them out ! http://www.myspace.com/jetsoverhead
