Give me a fucking break, Just listen to the legion of metal artists who list KISS as their main influence. If you go back to the 60’s it was Hendrix, how the hell can you mention trash like MC5 and blue cheer before mentioning Hendrix? What the hell is that? Groovy, man! But while KISS started the Metal genre, it was Black Sabbath that was the first Metal band. Black Sabbath was NOT heavy, they were dark and sullen…thus being Doom ROCK. KISS comes along and was heavy (in that day, and still are) and was METAL, Heavy Metal. Eventually, Black Sabbath became to be known as a Doom Metal band, and then creating Stoner Metal.
It was NOT until after KISS’ 1975 live album, Alive, that most of the big Metal bands became to be (inspired by that album).
Have you noticed how Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career sounded more like KISS thatn Black Sabbath?

Gene Simmons had nothing to do with creating anything but lawsuits and and poprock. The only type of “Metal” Kiss influenced musically was 80’s cock rock. Kiss may have influenced guys like Dimebag, and Scott Ian, and James Hetfield to start playing guitar, but thats where it ends. there is no actual sound influence. Deathmetal was started by bands like Venom, Posessed,Death…ect.

Gene wouldn’t know what the fuck to do with death metal, he probably doesn’t even know what it sounds like. cuz most of the good death metal bands are the ones that didn’t get that much air time and reknown, but thats what he does, just thinks about air time and marketing and whats gonna put money in his pocket.

Death Metal: a form of ,HEAVY METAL(that is real hard rock with heavy riffs and thundering drums that don’t sound like a classic rock band from the sixties or seventies that may have influenced the first metal bands like black sabbath, metallica, mottley crue, slayer, pantera, and megadeth the only band before that that even comes close is led zeppelin) has a distinct fast thrash metal sound in the music with double bass drums prevalent and with a deep growl to the vocals not a screaming or screeching like black metal or hair bands so therefore there could be no death metal bands before the eighties like six feet under, cannibal corpse, morbid angel, and so forth thank you dumbasses for your uninformed opinions on something you have no idea about and have no understanding of nor have you done any research on the subject and possibly have never even heard any actual death metal before

KISS’ “God of Thunder” was about the heaviest track they ever made, but it was perhaps only a moderate influence on really heavy music. Black Sabbath was far more important in metal, doom, death, etc.

Kiss puts on a good show and that’s about it.
The music is as old as they are. The only reason Kiss is still around is MONEY. Just ask Gene. Mister i will put kiss on anything that can hold it. Kiss did influence the glam rock era, but it has hothing to do with Death Metal. Death Metal started in Europe then trickled its way west to America. So who ever thinks kiss invented Death Metal has no clue about Metal. Once again Kiss in Glam Rock not Metal…Look it up.

R u serious?? people actually think death metal was created by Kiss?? wow thats funny. The band Death created death metal, thats kinda how death metal got its name. Thank you Aaron, who did comment 8 before i post this one, who mentioned Death as well. Other bands were called heavy and metal, but compared to bands these days they arent anything in comparison. Not to say that they aint metal, but they aint as heavy as bands these days. I love Gene Simmons and Kiss, but he needs to shut his mouth already.

Under DEATH METAL (1985-present) are the names: Possesed, Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Autopsy, Nile, Dieing Fetus. So you guys got it right with DEATH. Also, MC5 and Blue Cheer are in the EARLY METAL (1966-1971) category with other names like: Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Blue Cheer, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, MC5, Mountain, The Stooges and Black Sabbath. BTW Zeppelin is not Death Metal silly people. Think about what they sang about. “SQUEEZE MY LEMON TILL THE JUICE RUNS DOWN MY LEG” is not Death Metal. Although i am a Kiss fan,i think that is ridiculous.
God of thunder is a dark and heavy song but certainly not death metal.You might be a little closer by saying Venom were the innovators of that style.All this crap about kiss sucking is dumb,if you don’t like it you don’t like it,fine,who cares?Millions think they were a great band.Gene might be a bit of a douche i agree,but don’t slam the band they were great.I do like SOME death metal but there is a lot of it that sounds like my toilet flushing,i think some crappy death metal bands deserve to be slammed as shitty bands before you slam kiss.

KISS did NOT invent death metal! They did NOT invent metal. They were great in their day. And, they made a HUGE contribution to almost all current forms of hard rock and heavy metal. But they didn’t invent it. I am a huge fan of most forms of metal, but the real true roots of all things “rock” goes back before Zeppelin, Hendrix, Cream, etc. It even goes back before Elvis. The real roots, in my opinion, goes to the earliest blues artists. It’s all evolution, just like life. And as far as today’s KISS, Gene needs to give it up. He is boring, and in my opinion, doesn’t really have anything else worthwhile to offer, in music or television. He just talks to hear his own voice. He doesn’t have a clue. All he knows now, is marketing products with the KISS logo (not music, just stupid worthless junk that no one has a real use for).

Kiss didn’t invent anything. They weren’t the first band to wear make up and sure as hell weren’t the first “GLAM ROCK” band out.
They are no where near “METAL” or any genre of pre-existing “METAL”. For this fuck nut to actually claim to have invented Death Metal he seriously has some fucking pride issues. Damn, ya’ll don’t know your genres! There was no such thing as Heavy Metal in the 60’s and 70’s. It was called Acid Rock and Sabbath was included in that. Kiss was considered Hard Rock. You got to remember that back in the 60’s and 70’s there were basically 3 types of rock. Acid, Hard, and Pop Rock. Mississippi Queen by Mountain could very well be considered one of the first metal songs if anything. True metal began with bands like Judas Priest and they were probably in reality the first metal band along with Maiden, Dio, Ozzy, and artist like that. Then bands like Metallica,Megadeth,Testament,Overkill,Exodus and even Slayer could be thrown in there, took it a step farther and though it was still Heavy Metal it was also labeled as Thrash. Slayer somewhat crossed over and could probably fit the label of Death or Thrash Metal. Death Metal bands were bands like Death, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse,Aietheist etc. Pantera was in a class of there own called Groove Metal by their own admission. Kiss had nothing to do with metal of anykind and had more influence on hair bands or cock rock. I’m not saying that they didn’t have an influence on Metal at all but,it was very little if any and, they had nothing to do with inventing Death Metal by any stretch of the imagination. If you think so you have no clue what Death Metal is really about. Listen to some Dying Fetus or Cephallic Carnage and then tell me Gene simmons influence is in there somewhere. Rediculous!!!!
