Led Zeppelin Reunion Tour?

September 10th, 2007 by Baconstrip

led-zeppelin.jpgYes the long standing rumours never go away. Will Led Zeppelin do a reunion tour? That is the current scuttlebutt. This time it stems around a report in July that the band may get together for a proposed tribute to the late producer/record mogul Ahmet Ertegun at the O2 in London in November.  On the band’s website you’ll find the mysterious date 11 13 07 posted along with the usual Zep symbols. How curious. Then there is the press conference this Wednesday in which it is anticipated that there will be a full on reunion tour with original members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones with Jason Bonham filling in on drums for his late father. There have been offers for a Zep tour for well over 10 years now. Let’s hope they keep the legend intact and just do the one-off tribute gig and once again refuse the offer. I’d prefer to remember them like this photo – not a bunch of aging overweight rockers jumping on the reunion tour bandwagon. One can only hope.

EDIT: It was confirmed 12 Sept via press conference that this will indeed be a 1-off tribute gig for the Atlantic Records Mogul Ahmet Ertegun, no full tour. Thank God. The legend will remain intact, for the most part!

OMFG. This really needs NOT to be a rumor. I’m so going to see that shit if this is truth!

I saw Robert Plant when he did his tour in canada and he was hardly over weight or old. His voice was amazingly crisp and he was ALL over the stage. One of the best shows that I have seen in a hell of .. well in ever. I would be there for sure if they had a reunion…

I saw Jimmy Page in 91 on the Outrider Tour. It was great ! i saw Robert Plant several times supporting his solo music. The Now And Zen Tour was the best i’d seen of those.I saw Page and Plant tour together in the 90’s and i think i saw them in the early 2000’s but, i’m a little blurry on that memory so, i may be wrong. If they wrote some new stuff to support the tour, that would be great. But, you bet your ass, i’m there to hear Since I’ve Been Loving You and In The Evening and Heartbreaker and Thank You ( you get the point?) I’m there to hear whatever they feel comfortable playing for me. And, if they aren’t quite the same as they used to be, SO WHAT !!! They have been one of the biggest influences in rock since their first album came out and, I WILL NOT CRUCIFY THEM FOR BEING OLD. It’s gonna happen to all of us. And, they’ll still score more babes than all of us put together. I learned every Zeppelin song there was on the drums as a teenager in the 80’s. And, it will be an honor to see them perform once again.

  4. I am a life long Zeppelin fan, and I would support whatever it is they want to do. I don’t think they would look like a bunch of “aging overwight rockers”. If they do decide to tour then they will make sure they are up to the task. This notion of being a legend by not touring, not sure what that is. If thats the case they might as well be dead and buried. If they got what it takes to do a tour (and I definetely believe they do) then they should do it. And having Jason step in for his father is ok by me, I am sure the Gonzo would also approve.

i don’t care if they’re old or not for the youth of today who weren’t fortunate enough to experience led zeppelin live back in the day but appreciate their music all the same this would be a dream come true… im from australia and myself and a couple of mates are planning on flying to london if it turns out to be true! i don’t even care if theyre not completely awesome like they used to be just seeing them together and feeling their energy as a band on stage would bring goosebumps to the whole audience… oldies or not!!
