Music Contests are Starting to get a little Retarded

Today, Im doing my usual “searching for cool contests” thing when I happen upon this:
“Holy shit thats a sweet contest!” Um no. Get this: to enter, you click the link and get to this site solow.com where you guess a “bid”. The lowest unique bid wins the prize, and all you do is put your cell phone number in with your bid.

This is whether you enter online or by your phone. Nice one.
I’m not dumb – I know contests are all about promoting stuff! Since when did they become all about making money while you’re at it? What about the 13 year old kid who enters a bunch of times not realizing they are charging his phone every single time? …all cause he wants to meet Ozzy.
I actually played this and it was pretty cool.
OMG! this IS retarded! Don’t anyone take that wrong, Ozzy is great, but I will settle for Thanksgiving standing for what it is SUPPOSED TO stand for. GIVING not TAKING.

Of if you were pissed at someone you could enter someone else’s number.
I’d suggest that any user (thirteen years old or what have you) who doesn’t know enough to read the fine print before they enter their number somewhere or call a service or contest is probably badly in need of an object lesson about the responsibility of owning a phone.

Well seeing as how I’m pretty sure the 13 year old doesn’t pay his own cell phone bill, I guess the parents would have to pay it.
Which would then lead the parents to have an actual *gasp* discussion with their child about what are and are not acceptable ways to use a cell phone if they want to continue to have the priviledge of carrying one.
Imagine what would happen if that same 13 year old placed a bid of $100 to meet Ozzy and won. My God! What would happen then?
If only they had of had that discussion sooner, imagine all the pain and anguish that could have been avoided.
Get a grip. Lowest unique bid contests give you the opportunity to win things for extremely low amounts of money *if you get lucky*. If you don’t like the rules don’t play the game, or instead go compete for those same prizes in a regulsr auction and spend countless times the amount that you gamble at winning in this type of contest.
Whining about “the children, the children, my god won’t someone think about the children” comes across pretty lame.
Well duh. The point is more “it would suck to be that kid”, lol.
The first 3 bids are free – so no harm in giving it a try.
I played today for the first time, it was super easy and the first 3 bids are free. I’m actually a unique bidder right now, hoping to keep the lead and win a trip to meet Ozzy. This is a premium auction, so after the first 3 bids it’s $0.99 but that is still way cheaper than the value of this prize. They have free auctions too.
