Ozzy’s Understandably Pissed About the Sting in Fargo
When Ozzy’s tour came through Fargo, a few people got special invites to a meet n greet. It was actually a sting operation by local police to nab a bunch of dead beat dads. Looks like it worked, seeing as they made over 40 arrests.. but ,if they knew where they lived, why didn’t they just go and ARREST THEM. ?? This just screams of a wanna be big time sherriff in Fargo looking for some attention like that asshat down in Phoenix.
Yesterday, Ozzy’s people released the following statement:
“Since when does the lure of an OZZY OSBOURNE concert become the impetus for a sting operation by one local sheriff?
That’s what an outraged OSBOURNE would like to know after the events that transpired Monday, October 29 before his show at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND.”
As masterminded by Paul D. Laney, a local county sheriff–under the name of PDL Productions–this is how the sting was set up, all without OSBOURNE’s knowledge:
Sheriff Laney took the liberty of planning an OZZY OSBOURNE pre-show concert party by offering the very same perks included in OZZY’s “official” VIP tour packages including two tickets to 40 unsuspecting citizens who received the PDL invites by mail.
When the “winners” showed up at the bash, they were promptly handcuffed and arrested on various outstanding warrants. Sheriff Laney quickly held a televised press conference to congratulate himself on the successful sting operation.
“This Sheriff should be ashamed of himself for using my celebrity to arrest these criminals” says Osbourne. “Surely with some good police work and a little bit of time he could have accomplished this without bringing my name into it. It’s insulting to me and to my audience and it shows how lazy this particular sheriff is when it comes to doing his job. It’s obvious to me that Laney has an agenda and is just trying to make a name for himself on my back. Next time try some policing skills.”
Despite his comments about Sheriff Laney’s sting operation, OZZY harbors no ill will to the people of Fargo and hopes to return there under more favorable circumstances.

If you were referring to Sher. Joe Arpaio as the “asshat in Phoenix”…please do a little research on him.
He is actually doing a great job to help clean up Phoenix from MANY issues that we do not need here.
I agree that the “asshat” in Fargo went about this the wrong way, but do not confuse the stupidity of one man with the good work of another.

Actually yes, Sherrif Joe “can I get this on the news somehow” Arpaio IS an asshat.
Take a close look at the stats, the crime in PHX has changed little, and his wild west version of county lockup does nothing but make him feel good. There is no work on rehabilitation, and **Amnesty International** inspected and found tons of problems (none of which have been changed). These are things such as poor medical care, lack of supervision allowing more inmate on inmate violence, and lack of follow up on inmate complaints of guard violence.
It would only take a fraction of this to qualify him as an asshat in most people’s books but add in his sketchy real estate dealings and other corruption in his department …well now you have the makings of a WORLD CLASS asshat.

And what sucks is that that ass-hat sheriff didn’t break any laws….
They didn’t profit (financially) from the usage of the trademarked “Ozzy Osbourne” name, nor did the bar….
So Ozzy gets no retribution….
But if I know Sharon and Ozzy…. They’ll extract SOME sort of revenge…
I think Ozz should bite that sheriff’s head off…..

Ok friends this is how it works. Ok it is great getting loser dead beats off the street, I will say that. Using some ones name with out consent is dirty and should be punishable. Say your name was used, I bet you would be pissed. This sheriff is probably just as big of a dirt bag as the people he imprisons. If Ozzy said yeah thats a great idea then well do it. Thats not the case, if I was Ozzy I would sue for defamation of character. Think about that before you congratulate a loser sheriff who uses dirty ticks to catch losers. Think friends.

There is a fine line between deadbeat dad and someone that is just down on their luck and not able to make a couple of childsupport payments. I pay my child support with no problem, but there have been times when I missed a payment or 2 due to financial difficulties. I missed 3 payments once which amounted to about $1200, they immediately labeled me as a deadbeat dad and arrested me at my home. Nothing was mentioned of the 10 years prior that I didn’t miss one payment. My license was suspended and I was given 30 days to come up with the money or go to jail for 60 days. People should not be labeled ‘deadbeat dads’ unless they are like my wife’s former husband who has never made a payment and owes over $60,000 in back child support. I’m sure this particular sheriff did not differentiate and just figured he could get a few collars and make a name. Truly an ASSHAT amongst other things.

If your family was killed (or on a less extreme level, your home was robbed) by some ass-hat that was still running around free, and using Ozzy’s name to trick them into being arrested, neither you nor Ozzy would be bitching. It was clever ,though not original, and it worked. Congrats to the police for doing their job.
Don’t confuse laziness with efficiency. In one day you have 40 people with outstanding warrants come to you or spend hundreds of man-hours tracking down people through leads. If they were lazy… those 40 criminals would still be out on the streets.

Ok, using Ozzy’s name was a dirty trick and shouldn’t have been done, but…
Arresting 40 people at their homes is dangerous and time consuming. Arresting them all in one place at one time actually saves the tax payers money and since most of them aren’t home, it limits (though doesn’t eliminate) the danger of one of them pulling a weapon.
I agree that cops are lazy, but this tactic seems like a smart one.
But again, don’t flame me, I still believe that the cops shouldn’t use a performer’s name for their underhanded tricks.

This somehow doesnt surprise me at all. I used to live in Fargo. Heres the thing: there is NO crime. The crime rate is so low is almost nil. The cops are so bored there they go out of their way to look for things to get you on ($100 ticket on an *improper left turn*). They arrested a guy for doing contact juggling on the street while I was there. Im sorry to hear this. Fargo cops are straight up dicks.

No, actually, NO fuck the police, Antihero. My father is a police officer, thankyouverymuch, and he’s an honourable man.
I disapprove of the use of Ozzy in this setup. The officer in question was doing just as we believe- making a name for himself. And I’m not sure I know ANYONE that DOESN’T know Ozzy Ozbourne, so this was a perfect opportunity to not only nab the wanted men, but to boost his status amongst other officers in both his surrounding counties and other states as well. This is bullocks, TBQH.
Ozzy should deal this man some insane revenge. I believe he will seek revenge so insanely powerful, it will stun the nation:D
