Gift Cards to Give (or get?) Music

Recently Sony/BMG announced they were dropping DRM on all digital products & dowloads. So what is the newest brainchild they’ve come up with to sell music? Gift cards. Yup. Buy a card and get a code to go download the album at Sony’s new site musicpass.com.

I guess Ringles didn’t work so well. I wonder if this gift card idea will? Is the music industry really coming up with a plan or just flailing around with random ideas?
