Metallica’s One. On Piano. As Played by a 14 Year Old Kid.
…He says on his youtube page that he learns and plays all of these by ear/ without sheet music. If true - that is NUTS. If not, well this is still some good shit.
Check out more videos from him including other Metallica, Pantera and Iron Maiden:

January 23rd, 2008 at 12:36am
Hell he has it where it counts. The “Mistakes” are more like variations that compensate for the fact that you just can’t tap on a piano.

Chuck Norris once bet NASA he could survive re-entry without a spacesuit. On July 19th, 1999, a naked Chuck Norris re-entered the earth’s atmosphere, streaking over 14 states and reaching a temperature of 3000 degrees. An embarrassed NASA publically claimed it was a meteor, and still owes him a beer.

That’s really a beautiful sounding song on piano. I thought the original was good, but this is incredible. Keep it up, kid.
January 27th, 2008 at 1:17am
that amazing.
very nice.
January 27th, 2008 at 3:32am
He’s good, but it wasn’t perfect. Even thou he is still good. I also play by ear, but get every note right thou. Lets just put it this way when I first went in to instrumental class the first day I amaze the teacher and class with the x-files theme, kiss from a rose, smoke on the water, some acdc, and my personal favorite Buried Alive by Love [616 Version]
By H.I.M.. The teacher gave me shit to do that I never heard before and well I sucked at reading the
notes and playing at the same time. I did get an A- in his class thou lol.
Play Buried Alive by Love [616 Version] perfect on the piano and I will be impressed more. He’s good but has a long way to go.
January 27th, 2008 at 2:39pm

This is amaaazinngg.
February 15th, 2008 at 2:17pm
he did a great job. even though there were some rough spots, he played most of the song with one hand. Hell I cant do alot of things in the upright position. keep pushing, kid.
February 15th, 2008 at 3:28pm
The piano version of metallica - One is good too xD. Gotta give the kid some credit yo.
February 17th, 2008 at 12:33am
Not bad . a little more practice and he could be pro at this song .. i cant do this . but i do gotta say its not bad but not perfect..damn close though
February 17th, 2008 at 11:22am
No matter how good anyone is, they still have a long way to go. In music, no matter how well written or played a piece is, it’s never perfect. There is no ‘perfect’ music. It’s the nuances and mistakes that make it the performer’s own. I’m a drummer, I play by ear, and by no means do I play a cover verbatim. I make it my own, changing fills here and there, but keep the overall road map the same. I understand music pretty well, I can hear a note and know exactly what it is (perfect pitch, and I’m a drummer. Irony much?), and I didn’t hear anything off key in the video. All the notes played were musically correct. Sure, he didn’t do the sixtuplets in the latter half, but unless you’re a black metal drummer (or the drummer from the black dahlia murder), and you can play blast beats REAL quick, or just have a real quick hand, it’s dang near impossible to play all three of the keys in the power chord (1 5 and 8th of the scale) as fast as needed in this song.
Bottom line: This young man (not “boy” or “kid”) has talent. Sure he has a long way to go, just as I or anyone else does, but he sure as hell has come a long ass way too. He has incredible potential, which he’s already taking advantage of. I strongly encourage him, and everyone else, no matter how little or how much musical talent you have, to jump all over it, practice endlessly and expand the living crap out of your musicianship. It’s very well worth it.
Many kudos to the performer in this video.
Rock on, headbang till your head’s about to fall off, and keep rockin.
-Paddy

Hell Yeah Paddy!!! Spoken from a true musician! Rock the fuck out kid and NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!!
February 25th, 2008 at 9:22pm
Holy shit-amazing! made a lil teary eyed!
February 26th, 2008 at 11:39pm
That is shit is fuckin’ crazy ! hellz yea ! rock on kid !
February 28th, 2008 at 6:19pm
Very nice. He plays this very well minus the few imperfections which are to be expected…after all he is only human. Very nicely played “metal” breakdown on the piano. My whole thing is I have seen a million people who can play covers like this. I’ve found it’s a lot easier to play other peoples music than it is to write your own. I give the player many kudos for taking the time to learn this whole song skillfully. But i won’t tell him he is a virtuoso until he can write a piece like this.
March 1st, 2008 at 3:19am
the one at #22, your a peckerhead. this kid is only 14! get over your-self.
March 31st, 2008 at 10:30pm
This kid is amazing. All of you people who have to constantly point out that there are mistakes: FUCK OFF!!! There’s nothing wrong with varying parts of songs. If you’re gonna cover a song, and you play it EXACTLY like the original artist did, you might as well stop and let the original artist play it. Cuz if you are just gonna play it exactly like it was recorded, you are nothing more than an unoriginal clone trying to fly on someone else’s ride.
April 13th, 2008 at 10:14pm
Wow…that was awesome.I liked how he made the keys sound like they were voicing James’ lyrics.Rock on Kid!Horns High!
April 17th, 2008 at 10:40pm
Thanks for the comments guys, I hadn’t found out about this website until today.
April 19th, 2008 at 9:55am
I was thinking of choosing this song because in my music class for the final of the year he makes us play a song on the piano (not the whole song)
Anyway, pretty sweet.
May 4th, 2008 at 11:39pm
Too bad he is not learning how to read music, just because you can pick up things by ear does not mean you are good. That’s how I started and now I know how to read music and I am 150% better than I was.
