Guitar Rising: It’s Like Guitar Hero - With a Real Guitar

I haven’t played Guitar Hero, but part of me has always agreed a little with those that say “Hey - instead of spending all that time on that game, why don’t you just learn to play a real guitar!!” . Then another part of me thinks “Hey why don’t you kiss my ass — it’s just a video game”. It gets wierd after that so I won’t continue the story, but I will say that this new game coming out for the PC and mac looks pretty sweet.
As you can see in the video it looks a lot like guitar hero, but the 6 spaces for notes will represent the strings on the guitar. It will have easy levels for those who haven’t ever touched a guitar up to the levels that supposedly could “challenge even an expert musician”. Hmmmm….this could be a damn cool way to learn/practice, especially if the deals for licensing songs come through for them.

GAY!! It looks cool and all, but people play rock band a guitar hero because it make them feel like they are rocking out. Its easy and fun. When people relize that they cant play like jimmy page just because they can hold a guitar, they arnt going to have as much fun. If you want to learn to play guitar, Learn! This dosnt teach you anything but songs. Theres more to playing guitar than just reading tabs and playing a little song. But, I’d TOTALLY GET IT!!!!! LOL!!!!

I love it. Just yesterday I was calling my friend out because he was bragging about how good he was on guitar hero. Like, “it’s a game, who the fuck cares??! Let’s see you play an actual instrument.”
This is cool though. I’d definitely buy it.

I think it’s a great concept. I would buy it and see if I can really learn to play. I wish they had more video/information available.

yeah i was wondering will it work with a 7 string guitar cuz i use a seven and its gonna be kinda lame if i have to go an buy a 6 string just to play this game ???????????????????????

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 8 yrs. old and I suck miserably at Guitar Hero; therefore, I’m against it!! lol. It takes an untrained mind to comprehend it. I haven’t seen a guitarist yet that could do it well at all. There minds are too trained to the real thing. I think this NEW game would be a great tool in really teaching someone how to play such a remarkable instrument (the guitar), not teaching them how to fake it on a “fisher price button-axe”.

finally. a guitar realted game thats not insulting to actual guitarists! guitar hero is a waste of time and i makes you WORSE at playing an actual guitar. but thats just my, and thousands of other peoples, opinion

My god some people are sore. Guitar Hero doesn’t make you any worse or better at playing actual guitar. It may increase your rhythmic ability, which would be useful for any instrument, but it’s not going to ruin any guitar technique. The best GH players are people who actually play guitar as well, but I don’t see how playing GH would reduce your ability to play a real guitar unless you were a complete moron and expected them to work in exactly the same way. Guitar Hero can only be a good thing because it gets people excited about guitars and is bound to make a lot of younger gamers interested in learning to play the real thing.
As for this game, it looks really really cool. I’ll probably try it when it comes out, especially if you can put your own songs on it.

Maybe this will actually get people to be motivated to doing something useful instead of actually wasting time on something that you can get bored of
