Meatloaf Is Officially Cheesy With Paradise By The Gophone Light
I’m sure most of you have seen this commercial by now.
Meatloaf is officially cheesy in my opinion - having taken the selling out of music to a new level by re-recording and rewriting the lyrics of one of their classic songs for a commercial. Yikes.
I always though Meatloaf’s music was more Broadway than rock or, gulp, metal. Yes some people have classified Meatloaf as metal. Wow. Those people know nothing obviously. Anway I digress . . . the point is Meatloaf was always more Broadway or rock opera riding that edge of 70’s cheesiness but now have plunged deep into the world of cheese and sellout mania with this version of their song selling the ATTÂ GoPhone.
Wasn’t it Moby years ago who popularized, or made his music sell better by selling the rights to use his music commercially - or specifically targeted marketing his music to commercials? Or something like that *lol*?? Since then the airwaves have been bombarded with once classic music by artists peddling various wares and products. Gee thanks for making a classic by Cream conjure images of Just for Men haircoloring or a Blondie tune for some kind of dust mop. I guess . . . on the flipside . . . it’s cool that these artists make some cash for their efforts but somehow to me it cheapens the artist’s legacy. Maybe that is just me. What is worse are the horrible knockoffs you hear in advertising - probably because the rights to use the actual original recording couldn’t be obtained.

Did anyone notice that Tiffany - yes the mall queen - is in this commercial as well? Doesn’t that scream cheesy as well? *laughs* Also watch it carefully to spot the magic disappearing broom in Meatloaf’s hands.

how sad. any respect i could have mustered up for the guy is now LONG gone. what a shame. i don’t care how much money could be made…i would never do that….*sigh* and i thought Ozzy re-defines the term “sell-out” and established just how “low you can go.” damn, meatloaf. that’s just…damn, man.

when i saw the commercial on tv, i thought it was funny…but seeing the full version, i have lost respect for that man…..though i’ve never had respect for tiffany…how lame.

You know, I never considered meatloaf’s music to be metal either.
I’ll go as far as saying it’s interesing and yes I saw this commercial
already and I think it’s pretty lame.

lol…I”m just a cheezy kinda gal anyway I suppose, but I have always liked Meatloaf’s ‘rock opera’ type music. I’m actually wondering if the boy in this video is his son? He’s got a good voice whoever he is! And isn’t that redhead the singer from all his duet video’s??

OH MY FUCKING GOD, that does suck never seen the commercial until now don’t do much TV but fuck I USED TO LOVE meatloaf but now, this is just as bad as Lar’s from Metallica saying metal is dead, they both have sold out wickedly, money is everything now a day’s not pride and respect for what you have built and struggled for.
