IONIA-EP 2008
WWW.MYSPACE.COM/IONIA
I’m surprised I haven’t heard about NYC’s IONIA before this. Everything about this EP is right up my alley when it comes to music. It’s got rock elements; it’s dark in the right places and intertwines a tad bit of anger with alluring vocals. Plus the passion each song provokes shows these guys really give it all when experiencing the idea of songwriting together. This EP has gained so much positive feedback the band is back in the studio looking at a sophomore release in April. But back to the EP we have in hand. THE STORM delivers delicious rock attributes as vocalist Blaise Beyhan delivers playful yet sentimental vocals with his distinct voice. REWIND has to be my favorite because of the upbeat addictive rock sounds cape and the catchy melody driven chorus. GASOLINE RAINBOW shows off the sensational and deep driven vocals yet again. This ballad really drives you straight into the world of IONIA. SKIN & BONES creates a country sounding beginning and then builds up into a solid rock atmosphere where an energetic chorus will have you wanting more. IONIA fulfills your every music fantasy and this band seems like they are not afraid to be creative and different with every new song they create. It makes me think back of the old days of My Chemical Romance due to the dark tones of some songs and the alluring beauty of a band like 30 Seconds To Mars.
