When you first hear a band, you don’t always think that they will make it and that you will like them right away.  HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD is definitely not one of those bands.  They make a lasting impression on every listener out there and do a fabulous job at what they do, which is create music.  Hailing from California, the six members of HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD have created an album that will be talked about for, hopefully, the next ten years.  I got a chance to shoot some questions over to the boys and this what they had to say about their album, appearance, music, and even an upcoming album.

Answered by J-Dawg:
You’re compared to MOTLEY CRUE in your bio, do you think you are anything like them?

We’re like them in lifestyle, but our music is really nothing alike.

The music you have created is more hip-hop than metal, was there a reason why you decided to go to the route?
We all just grew up listening to hip-hop and rap, so it just made sense that we went down that direction.

The lyrics on some of the songs are very blunt and out there, were you trying to get a message across to listeners?
There are definitely messages in our songs, but the bluntness of it all is because we are who we are and don’t want to hide it or censor ourselves.

What was your first reaction to the explosiveness of your music hitting myspace?
Jaw-dropping face-melting surprise!

What does it feel like to beat out bands like NINE INCH NAILS, COLDPLAY, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, and FROM FRIST TO LAST?
Shocking because they are so awesome and I never would have ever thought that would happen.

The first time I listened to SWAN SONGS I fell completely in love with it, I actually listen to it everyday. What would be the strangest reaction you have gotten from a band about the album?
Jealousy, we get a lot of haters and you’d think other musicians would be supportive.  I’d never hate on anyone else’s music.

Did you all grow up listening to metal/hardcore music?
Not all of us, but some.  Fucking Slayer, Bro!!!

You each have different nicknames and masks, is there any meanings behind them? And if so what is each for all 6 members?
The masks are a representation of who we each are.  We have different personalities and the masks show that.

Is there ever a time when you will reveal who you each are?
Maybe, but I think we’re too handsome and people may stop focusing on the music if they see our faces.

The following answered by Funny Man:
Do you have plans for a sophomore album?

All I can tell you is that when we do make another album, its going to be the best one ever!

Which songs would best describe each member of the band?
J – Dawg  - California
J3T -  Paradise Lost
Deuce – This Love, This Hate
Charlie Scene –  Everywhere I Go
Funny Man -  No Other Place
Da Kurlz – No.

Do any of you play instruments? If any do, who sing/rap and not play in a band?
J-Dawg, Charlie Scene, we can all play, but some are much better than others.

What is one of the best moments you have had on stage?
Crowd surfing for a whole song, a whole song!

Any last comments? Famous last words?
Bing bang bow baby!!!!
